“The Bowl 125”
May 28, 2012
The DCI race team rolled into the very odd shaped Shady Bowl speedway on Sunday seeing this track for the very first time. By the time practice rolled around it was over 100 degrees. Brett was loose in on the first practice session so crew chief Todd Robinson made a front spring change for the second practice. Brett said the car was much better now and was able to get the car into the top 10 in practice times.
The race team went to the hotel feeling pretty good about the day. Brett and Todd spent a few hours going over the results from the practice sessions and decided to make a few more small adjustments before qualifying.
The team arrived early the next morning and crew chief Todd Robinson made the changes they decided on and sent the DCI General Contractors Monte Carlo to pre qualifying tech. The car passed with no issues and waited to qualify. Brett busted off two good laps and qualified 9th. Brett said the car felt great and he may have left a little on the table during qualifying.
At the drop of the green flag Brett knew he had a rocket ship under him and marched his way to the front on the outside. Brett took the lead around lap 50 only to have a right front go down a few laps later. Brett was forced to pit for tires and lost a few laps under green. The DCI Monte Carlo was once again relegated to a miserable 18th place finish.
Brett tried to stay positive saying ”we had this one, I now know for sure we can beat these guys if we just have a little bit of good luck”. Todd agreed “we had the fastest car here today”.
