Toledo Speedway

“7up  100”
April 29, 2012
The DCI General Contractors race team pulls into Toledo Speedway only to find Mother Nature taking center stage once again. It rains all day Saturday washing out practice, not what a new team needs to have happen on their first trip to the fast ½ mile speedway.
The race team arrives to beautiful skies on Sunday and unloads for 2 quick practice sessions. Brett tells his crew chief it is way too tight off under throttle. He is 20th on the speed chart after practice.
The program is moving real fast trying to get everything in on one day. Todd made a spring change hoping this would cure the tight condition. The team rushes the DCI Monte Carlo to the pre qualifying tech and into line to qualify. The car is better but still tight off and the best Brett can do is to qualify 17th.
The cars are under impound after qualifying so Todd cannot make any major changes, only tire pressures can be adjusted. Todd adjusts tire pressures to help the tight condition and line up for the start of the “7up 100”. The adjustments help and the car starts to free up about half way and Brett drives to 6th place when the caution comes out with 2 laps to go. Under caution Brett picks up some debris from the wreck and the left rear tire starts to go down. Brett has to pit from 6th place to change the tire and another good run ends with a bad finish of 14th.
Once again the only thing missing is some good racing luck! The DCI team looks forward to the next event at Berlin Speedway.
